I Liked It…..
As yet another story emerges of someone who is less than pleased with our Katy’s success we thought it would be easier and simpler to keep a list of people who’ve been pissed by Katy.
Zooey Deschanel – the American actress and star of a movie called ‘Gigantic’ which wasn’t quite a big a hit as the title might suggest, expressed her displeasure at being incorrectly recognised as Katy Perry?
Not normally something one would complain about but you might guess that when you are struggling to be famous in your own right it might be a little disappointing not to get the recognition you think is deserved?
Beth Deto – plus sized fashionista and singer with 3-piece indie rock band, The Gossip, expressed a dislike for the way Katy gained success by being offensive to gay people.
In case you’re thinking that Katy spends her free time visiting gay bars incognito and upsetting the patrons with foul language, what Ms Dito was actually alluding to were the lyrics of I Kissed a Girl – yeah, that makes perfect sense doesn’t it. Anyway this set off a bit of a tit-for-tat exchange in the press along the lines of Beth doesn’t like Katy Perry so Katy doesn’t like Beth, etc, etc.
The slanging match doesn’t look likely to stop just yet but we are going to try and remain impartial.
Katy! Katy! Katy! Katy!
Jill Sobule – a singer/songwriter claims to have come up with the title of I Kissed a Girl in 1995, albeit with a different tune and lyrics? Jill says she was going to let it lie but, for some unexplained reason, has had a change of heart and is now venting her spleen against our Katy, using some very rude words and lots of exclamation marks!!
Just to set the record straight we can confirm that we thought of the title in 1972 and are not complaining (not yet anyway!). Our tune and words were also different but here are the lyrics:
They don’t like us and we don’t care….
They don’t like us and we don’t care….
They don’t like us and we don’t care….
They don’t like us and we don’t care….
They don’t like us and we don’t care….
