“I Kissed a Girl” sung by Katy Perry was a big hit in the US, the UK and throughout the world in 2008. It was written by Katy Perry, Dr Luke, Max Martin and British songwriter and artist Cathy Dennis.

The song is famed for it’s provocative and suggestive lyrics although Ms Perry insists that the spirit of the song relates purely to the fun and openness of a typical female friendship. And, much to the disappointment of some of the more salacious elements of the media, she insists that her own preference is and has always has been for the opposite gender.

The best selling, so far, and most widely acclaimed song of Katy’s repertoire, I Kissed a Girl achieved No.1 status in over 20 countries and appeared at position 20 in Rolling Stone Magazine’s “The 100 Best Singles of 2008“. The record achieved Gold status for sales in the UK and Triple Platinum in the US.
Katy has been nominated for many music industry accolades and in 2008 was voted Best New Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards
